Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday termed 2014 to 2026 as a “golden era” in India’s internal security history, asserting that Naxalism is on the verge of eradication. Speaking at the 79th Raising Day of Delhi Police, Shah praised the force for its dedication to “peace, service, and justice” while emphasising Delhi’s unique security challenges as the nation’s capital.
Shah electronically laid the foundation stone for the ₹368 crore Integrated Headquarters of the Special Cell, describing it as India’s most advanced centre to combat terrorism, narcotics, organised crime, and cyber threats. The facility will feature a modern war room, indoor firing range, cyber lab, and advanced training infrastructure.
In addition, the Home Minister inaugurated the first phase of the ₹857 crore Safe City Project, which includes the new Integrated Command, Control, Communication and Computer Centre (C4I). He highlighted that 2,100 CCTV cameras are live, with plans to connect 10,000 cameras and integrate over 15,000 existing units to improve surveillance and rapid response.

Shah outlined sweeping legal reforms, including the repeal of colonial-era criminal laws and the introduction of three new Nyaya Sanhitas. These reforms will fast-track justice, with FIRs expected to reach final resolution within three years, enhanced protections for women and children, recognition of digital records, and legal provisions for terrorism, trial in absentia, and asset attachment of absconders abroad.
Reflecting on national security progress, Shah cited the reduction of Left-Wing Extremism, stating that Naxalism, once active across 11 states, is set to be eliminated by March 31, 2026. He also noted that over 10,000 former militants in the Northeast have rejoined mainstream society through peace agreements and rehabilitation programs.
Looking forward, Shah announced plans to expand the national CCTV network, modernise border security infrastructure, and integrate police, judiciary, forensic, and prison systems under the Integrated Criminal Justice System. He reiterated the government’s commitment to a robust security framework aimed at preventing infiltration and strengthening internal stability.
