The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has unveiled a unique six-day heritage tour exploring key sites tied to Chhatrapati Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha empire.
Priced at Rs 13,155 (Economy, Sleeper), Rs 19,840 (Comfort, 3AC), and Rs 27,365 (Superior, 2AC), the tour begins at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and covers iconic locations across Maharashtra.
Day 1 starts at Raigad Fort, Shivaji’s coronation site and former capital, via Mangaon station, followed by a night stay in Pune. On Day 2, tourists visit Pune’s Lal Mahal, built by Shivaji’s father Shahaji Bhosale, Kasba Ganapati, and Shivsrushti.

Day 3 includes Shivneri Fort, Shivaji’s birthplace, and Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple, with a return to Pune for the night. On Day 4, the itinerary shifts to Satara’s Pratapgarh Fort, site of the 1659 Battle of Pratapgad, pivotal to the Maratha empire’s rise. The tour concludes in Kolhapur on Day 5, with visits to Mahalakshmi Temple and Panhala Fort, where Shivaji spent over 500 days. The return journey to Mumbai follows.
The all-inclusive package covers vegetarian meals, hotel stays, bus transfers, sightseeing, travel insurance, and a tour escort.
