Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday that the Delhi government will present its 2025-26 budget, themed ‘Viksit Delhi’, in the state assembly between March 24 and 26. Speaking at a press conference, Gupta emphasized that this budget will stand out as a true ‘People’s Budget’, shaped by the voices and aspirations of Delhi’s residents.
In a bid to ensure inclusivity, the government is actively seeking suggestions from various sections of society. “To make this a people’s budget, we are reaching out to every corner of Delhi,” Gupta said. She outlined a series of consultations, starting with a meeting on March 5 with representatives from women’s organizations at the assembly premises, followed by discussions with education sector stakeholders and traders on March 6. These engagements aim to reflect the diverse needs of the capital’s population in the budget.
Taking public participation a step further, Gupta shared a dedicated email ID and WhatsApp number where Delhiites can directly send their ideas and recommendations. “Every citizen’s voice matters. Whether it’s through meetings or digital platforms, we want this budget to echo the priorities of the people,” she stated, urging residents to take advantage of these accessible channels to contribute.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the BJP-led government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises outlined in its ‘Sankalp Patra’, assuring that work is progressing at a rapid pace. The 2025-26 budget, she hinted, will be a roadmap for transforming Delhi into a developed and prosperous city.
Gupta didn’t shy away from addressing the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s record. She pointed out that only two Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports have been tabled in the assembly so far, yet they have already uncovered “multiple corruption charges” against the AAP regime. With twelve more CAG reports pending, Gupta suggested that further irregularities might come to light, signaling a continued push for accountability.
