A special train carrying 850 devotees set off from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, to Ayodhya on Tuesday under the state’s Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana, flagged off by Revenue, Sports, and Youth Welfare Minister Tankram Verma. The initiative, fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to enable every Indian to visit Lord Ram’s birthplace, has facilitated over 22,000 pilgrimages since March 2024, with 27 special trains departing from various state divisions.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the scheme as a milestone in Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee year, connecting devotees to their faith. The train, operated in collaboration with IRCTC, offers free travel, meals, and lodging, ensuring a seamless journey. Devotees will also visit Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi en route, with weekly trains continuing from Raipur, Bilaspur, Surguja, and Durg-Bastar.
