A major water pipeline burst in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Monday, leading to a powerful jet of water shooting nearly 40 to 50 feet into the air. The incident, reported by NDTV, occurred near the busy Bandra Reclamation stretch, drawing the attention of residents and commuters alike. Visuals of the geyser-like spray quickly circulated on social media.
The sudden rupture resulted in significant water wastage as thousands of litres spilled onto the road within minutes. The force of the water spread across the surrounding area, flooding portions of the street and nearby pavements. Authorities were alerted immediately after the incident was reported.
Traffic movement in the area was briefly affected due to waterlogging and reduced visibility caused by the high-pressure spray. Vehicles were slowed or diverted as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents. Traffic police and civic staff were deployed on-site to manage congestion and ensure public safety.

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) rushed repair teams to the spot to control the leak. Efforts were made to isolate the damaged section of the pipeline and stop the water flow. Engineers also began assessing the extent of structural damage to determine the cause of the burst.
Civic authorities stated that a detailed inspection is underway to evaluate the impact on water supply in nearby areas. Temporary disruptions may occur while repair work continues. Officials assured residents that normal supply would be restored at the earliest and emphasized the need for infrastructure upgrades to prevent such incidents in the future.
