A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by two individuals, including a minor, inside an abandoned madrassa hostel in Kadamtala, North Tripura, on Saturday night, police reported.
The horrific incident occurred in Kurti village, Dharmanagar subdivision, as the girl was heading to a relative’s wedding ceremony in the same locality.
According to Jayanta Debnath, officer-in-charge at Kadamtala police station, the assailants abducted the girl and took her to the deserted hostel, where they raped her before fleeing.

The traumatized survivor returned home and recounted her ordeal to her parents, prompting an immediate response from outraged villagers. They launched a manhunt and apprehended one of the accused, a 19-year-old daily wager, from his residence that same night. The villagers handed him over to the police, who formally arrested him.
Debnath confirmed that a case has been registered against both perpetrators under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The second accused, a minor, remains at large, with police intensifying efforts to apprehend him. The girl underwent a medical examination, and her condition is reported to be stable.
