A 17-year-old migrant worker allegedly murdered a 75-year-old woman in her Kushaiguda home on April 11, police revealed Tuesday, in a case that has horrified Hyderabad.
The teen, employed at one of the victim’s shops, bludgeoned her head with an iron rod, strangled her with a sari, and tied it to a ceiling fan. Shockingly, he recorded himself jumping on her body before fleeing.
The crime came to light when the teen sent the gruesome video to the victim’s relative in Bengaluru, who alerted police on Monday. Officers broke into the locked house, finding the decomposed body of Kamala Devi, a Rajasthan native living alone.

She earned Rs 50,000 monthly from shop rentals inherited after her husband’s death 15 years ago.
Police suspect the teen acted out of resentment, claiming Kamala frequently scolded him, though all motives are under investigation. “We’re verifying if he’s a minor and assessing his mental state,” a senior official said, noting the act’s brutality raises concerns about his psychological condition. A murder case has been filed, and the body sent for autopsy.
The incident mirrors a 2023 Hyderabad case involving a teen’s violent outburst, fueling fears of rising youth aggression. Posts on X condemned the “sickening” act, with locals demanding justice for Kamala. As police probe deeper, the city grapples with the chilling question of what drove such a heinous crime.
