A Russian court has convicted 19 people in connection with the deadly Crocus City Hall attack, one of the deadliest terrorist incidents in the country in recent years. The ruling comes after months of investigations and court proceedings following the assault on a concert venue near the Russian capital in March 2024.
The attack targeted the Crocus City Hall, where gunmen opened fire on crowds before a large blaze engulfed parts of the building. The assault left more than 140 people dead and hundreds injured, triggering a massive security response and nationwide mourning.
Russian authorities said the convicted individuals were involved in planning, facilitating or carrying out the attack. The defendants were found guilty on charges including terrorism, participation in a terrorist organization and aiding the perpetrators. Prosecutors argued that the group had coordinated logistics, transportation and weapons used during the assault.

Investigators linked the attack to extremist networks operating beyond Russia’s borders. Security agencies said several suspects had attempted to flee the country shortly after the attack but were detained following a large-scale manhunt involving multiple law enforcement units.
The incident prompted Russian officials to tighten security measures across major cities and public venues. Authorities also increased surveillance and border controls while launching wider investigations to identify potential accomplices or support networks linked to the attackers.
The Crocus City Hall attack shocked Russia and drew international condemnation, with governments around the world expressing solidarity with the victims. Analysts say the court’s verdict represents a key step in the country’s efforts to deliver justice for one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in modern Russian history.
