Overnight Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least one civilian and injured dozens, according to local officials, while Ukraine also carried out drone strikes targeting industrial sites inside Russian territory, marking another escalation in cross-border hostilities.
Ukrainian authorities said one person was killed in a strike on Mykolaivka in the eastern Donetsk region. Regional official Vadym Filashkin confirmed the death in a social media post. Across northern and eastern Ukraine, at least 26 additional people were reported injured as multiple regions came under attack during the overnight assault.
Ukraine’s air force stated that Russia launched 219 drones during the latest wave of strikes, with 190 of them reportedly intercepted and destroyed. Despite the large number of drones neutralised, officials said several managed to hit targets, including port infrastructure in the southern city of Odesa, adding further pressure on critical civilian and logistics facilities.

In parallel developments, Ukrainian forces conducted their own drone operations targeting industrial areas in Russia’s Samara region. Local governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said strikes hit the cities of Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran, both of which are known for housing major oil refinery infrastructure. Russian authorities have not yet disclosed the full extent of damage from the attacks.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 258 Ukrainian drones overnight across 16 regions, as well as over the annexed Crimea peninsula and the Black and Azov Sea areas. The scale of interceptions highlights the intensity of ongoing aerial exchanges between the two sides.
The latest developments underscore the continued escalation of drone warfare and long-range strikes, with both countries targeting critical infrastructure deep within each other’s territories. Civilian casualties and infrastructure damage remain a persistent concern as the conflict shows no immediate signs of de-escalation.
