An Indian student, Charanpreet Singh, was brutally assaulted and racially abused in Adelaide, South Australia, last Saturday night. The attack occurred around 9:22 PM near Kintore Avenue while Singh and his wife were viewing the city's light displays. A group of men approached Singh, hurled racial slurs and launched an unprovoked attack, leaving him unconscious with severe injuries.
Singh recounted the ordeal to 9News, stating, "I tried to fight back, but they beat me until I was unconscious." Videos circulating online show five men, some armed with metal knuckles or sharp objects, punching and kicking Singh in the face and stomach. A woman recording the incident screamed in fear, attempting to intervene. The attackers fled, leaving Singh on the ground.
Emergency services rushed Singh to Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he was treated for brain trauma and multiple facial fractures. South Australia Police arrested a 20-year-old from Enfield, charging him with assault causing harm. Investigations continue, with CCTV footage under review to identify the remaining suspects.
