Late TT Jagannathan, the visionary behind the TTK Prestige Group, has been posthumously awarded the Padma Shri in the trade and industry category. The 77-year-old business leader, who passed away in October 2025, was recognised for his decades-long contribution to Indian industry and innovation in kitchen solutions.
Jagannathan, often called the “Kitchen Mogul,” transformed Prestige pressure cookers into a household name in India. He invented the GRS safety mechanism for pressure cookers and expanded the brand globally, making Indian cookware a recognised export commodity.
Under his leadership, TTK Prestige evolved from a pressure cooker manufacturer into a full-service kitchen solutions company, offering cookware, electrical appliances, and a wide range of kitchen innovations. He also played a crucial role in turning around the TTK Group, making it debt-free and profitable.

Beyond business, TT Jagannathan contributed to healthcare, sanitation, and education initiatives, reflecting his broader commitment to social development. His vision combined entrepreneurship with societal impact, leaving a lasting legacy in both industry and community service.
An IIT Madras gold medallist and PhD holder in operations from Cornell University, Jagannathan authored the acclaimed book Disrupt and Conquer – How TTK Prestige Became a Billion Dollar Company, sharing insights into his strategies and journey of innovation.
Jagannathan’s influence extended beyond India, with Prestige products reaching markets in the US, UK, and other countries. Known for his love of cooking, he often said that his drive to innovate stemmed from his experiences in the kitchen, blending passion with ingenuity to shape one of India’s most trusted brands.
