French police arrested a man on Friday suspected of stabbing three women on Paris’ Line 3 metro amid the city’s busy end-of-year festivities. The attacks occurred between 4:15 pm and 4:45 pm at the Republique, Arts et Metiers, and Opera stations, according to the RATP authority, which operates the metro system.
AFP journalists at Republique station reported seeing emergency personnel treating one woman wounded in the leg, visibly in shock. The victims were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for medical care, with none of the injuries initially reported as life-threatening.
Authorities tracked the suspect to the Val d’Oise region north of Paris using surveillance camera footage and geolocation from his mobile phone. Police confirmed that he was arrested late Friday afternoon, and additional security teams were deployed across Line 3 to reassure passengers.
