Three children were killed and two others injured after a motorcycle bomb exploded outside a house in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Thursday. The blast took place late Wednesday in the Ghwa Khwa area of Lower South Waziristan, a region near the Afghan border that has witnessed repeated militant violence in recent years.
According to police officials, the explosion occurred after a bomb planted in a parked motorcycle detonated outside the residence of a man identified as Saddam Hussain. Investigators said an unidentified individual had reportedly parked the motorcycle near the house shortly before the blast. The powerful explosion caused panic in the area and left several children critically injured.
The victims who died in the incident were identified as 15-year-old Shah Hussain, seven-year-old Sanaya Bibi, and eight-year-old Soreen Bibi. Two other injured children were rushed to Headquarters Hospital Wana for medical treatment. Officials have not yet disclosed the condition of the injured victims.

Security personnel and police teams immediately cordoned off the area following the attack and launched a search operation. Forensic teams were also deployed to collect evidence from the blast site as authorities began an investigation into those responsible for planting the explosive device. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The latest explosion comes amid continuing security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in districts bordering Afghanistan where militant activity has increased over the past few years. The region has frequently witnessed bomb attacks, targeted killings, and assaults on civilians and security personnel despite ongoing counterterror operations by Pakistani authorities.
The attack is also the second incident involving children in the province within a week. Last week, three children were injured in Bajaur district after militants allegedly used a quadcopter drone to attack a cricket ground in the Mamond area. The repeated targeting of civilian areas has raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in parts of northwestern Pakistan.
Authorities have intensified security measures in the affected region and said investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators behind the motorcycle bomb attack. Local residents and community leaders have meanwhile urged the government to strengthen security and prevent further violence against civilians, especially children living in conflict-prone areas.
