Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday paid homage to B. R. Ambedkar at the memorial in Mhow, highlighting that Ambedkar’s ideals continue to guide India’s democratic and social framework on the occasion of his 135th birth anniversary.
Addressing a public gathering at Ambedkar’s birthplace in Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow), the Chief Minister said that Ambedkar laid the foundation of India’s Constitution and played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s democratic system. He urged citizens to follow the principles of equality, social harmony, and unity to build a more inclusive society.
Earlier in the day, CM Yadav visited the Ambedkar memorial complex and offered floral tributes to the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar. He also paid respects at the sacred site where an urn containing Ambedkar’s ashes is preserved, a location regarded as highly significant by followers and visitors.

The Chief Minister reviewed arrangements at the memorial as large crowds, including devotees and Buddhist monks, gathered to mark the occasion. The Mhow memorial, developed at Ambedkar’s birthplace, has become a major pilgrimage site and attracts thousands of visitors each year, particularly on Ambedkar Jayanti.
Several public representatives, including Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, state ministers, and BJP MLA Usha Thakur, attended the event. Leaders from across party lines, including Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari, also paid tributes at the memorial.
While the day was marked by reverence and large-scale participation, it also saw political exchanges, with opposition leaders raising concerns over issues related to the Constitution, reservation, and social justice. Across Madhya Pradesh, various programmes including rallies, wreath-laying ceremonies, and public gatherings were organised to commemorate Ambedkar’s legacy.
