Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) announced plans to deliver 12 LCA Mk1A fighter jets to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 2025, following the arrival of GE engines from the US.
The state-owned defense firm, in a Friday earnings call, said the first Tejas LCA Mk1A, a 4.5-generation multi-role fighter with advanced combat capabilities, will roll out within months. HAL projects FY26 revenue growth of 8-10%, driven by a robust Rs 1.89 lakh crore orderbook, up from Rs 94,000 crore last year.
The order pipeline includes 97 LCA Mk1A jets, 143 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH), and 10 Dorniers, totaling Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

HAL is scaling up with two manufacturing lines in Bengaluru and Nashik, with the latter’s capacity expansion critical for meeting IAF deadlines. The company plans a Rs 14,000-15,000 crore capital expenditure over five years, averaging Rs 3,000 crore annually, to enhance production.
Critics note HAL’s delivery delays—only three jets delivered against a 2024 target of eight—raise concerns, but the GE engine supply and Nashik expansion signal progress. HAL’s strategic role in India’s self-reliance push remains pivotal.
