A tragic and controversial shooting occurred in Minneapolis earlier this week when 37-year-old U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. The incident took place shortly after Good had dropped her 6-year-old son off at school and was driving home with her current partner. According to reports from The Mirror US, the encounter unfolded on a Minneapolis street when ICE officers approached her vehicle. Videos circulating on social media show one officer demanding that Good open the door while attempting to grab the handle. As the vehicle begins to move forward slowly, another officer positioned in front of the car draws his firearm and fires at least two shots at close range. The SUV then veers into two parked cars along the curb before coming to a stop.
The Department of Homeland Security has described the incident as one in which Good allegedly “weaponized her vehicle,” labeling it an act of “domestic terrorism.” This characterization was publicly reiterated by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Authorities have not yet released the names of the officers involved, and the federal investigation remains ongoing, with officials stating that further details will be provided as they become available.
Good’s ex-husband, who spoke to the press on condition of anonymity to protect their children, stated that she was not an activist, had never participated in protests, and had no known history of confrontations with law enforcement beyond a single traffic violation. He confirmed that she had just dropped their young son at school moments before the fatal encounter.

The shooting has sparked widespread outrage and protests across Minneapolis. Hundreds of demonstrators marched through the city’s streets at night, braving freezing rain, chanting “ICE out now,” and carrying signs condemning the agency. Earlier in the day, protesters gathered outside a federal facility central to the administration’s recent immigration enforcement operations in the area.
The incident has drawn significant attention amid heightened scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement tactics. A separate shooting involving federal agents was also reported in Portland, Oregon, on the same day, where a man and a woman were shot inside a vehicle outside a hospital. Their conditions remain undisclosed. The Minneapolis case continues to fuel national debate over the use of force by ICE agents and the broader implications for public safety and civil rights.
