The Ministry of External Affairs said it is “closely following the situation in West Asia” while responding to questions regarding Pakistan’s reported role and statements linked to ceasefire developments in the region, amid heightened diplomatic and security tensions.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during a routine briefing, noted that India is monitoring evolving developments in West Asia and assessing their broader implications for regional stability and security. The remarks came in the context of international discussions around ceasefire arrangements and the involvement of multiple regional actors in ongoing geopolitical negotiations.
The statement follows reports and commentary suggesting Pakistan’s engagement or positioning in relation to ceasefire diplomacy in the region. While the MEA did not directly comment on the specifics of Pakistan’s role, it emphasised India’s consistent focus on peace, de-escalation, and the protection of civilian lives in conflict-affected areas.

India has maintained that developments in West Asia are of strategic importance given their impact on energy security, diaspora safety, and regional trade routes. Officials reiterated that New Delhi remains in close contact with relevant stakeholders and continues to evaluate the situation through diplomatic channels.
The MEA also highlighted that India’s approach is guided by a policy of balanced engagement and humanitarian concern, avoiding direct alignment with competing regional narratives while prioritising stability and dialogue.
As tensions and diplomatic exchanges continue in West Asia, India’s position remains focused on careful observation and calibrated responses, with officials indicating that further updates will be issued if there are significant developments affecting regional security or Indian interests.
