A Las Vegas casino supervisor sold Shane Tamura, 27, the AR-15-style rifle used in a horrific Manhattan office building shooting that left four dead, authorities revealed Wednesday. Tamura, who worked in the surveillance department at Horseshoe Las Vegas, fatally shot three people in the lobby of the building housing the NFL’s headquarters on Monday, then killed another on the 33rd floor before taking his own life, police said.
A note found on Tamura’s body claimed he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and accused the NFL of concealing brain injury risks from contact sports. The supervisor, who legally purchased the rifle and sold it to Tamura for $1,400, has not been charged, though the legality of the sale remains unclear, per the NYPD. Tamura also bought a car from the supervisor for his cross-country trip.
Tamura’s Las Vegas apartment revealed psychiatric and anti-epileptic medications, a suicide note apologizing to his mother, and ammunition. He had a history of mental illness and a dismissed 2023 trespassing charge. New York detectives are searching his casino locker and awaiting warrants for his phone and laptop.
