Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is making a remarkable recovery from its financial crisis, attributing the success to the corporation’s innovative leadership and dedicated workforce. In a Facebook post, Vijayan highlighted KSRTC’s transformative efforts, which have led to unprecedented revenue gains and restored public confidence in the state’s public transport system.
The modernization of KSRTC, including the adoption of state-of-the-art systems and the resumption of previously suspended services, has significantly enhanced passenger comfort and safety. Innovative initiatives such as travel cards, UPI payment facilities, live tracking systems, tourist packages, and driving schools have boosted the corporation’s popularity among commuters. Additionally, the introduction of new buses equipped with advanced amenities has attracted more travelers, further strengthening KSRTC’s position.
These measures culminated in a record-breaking financial achievement on September 8, with KSRTC generating ₹10.19 crore in ticket revenue and ₹82 lakh in non-ticket revenue in a single day. Vijayan commended the corporation’s employees, management, and leadership for their relentless efforts in revitalizing KSRTC and steering it away from the brink of collapse.
