Kerala witnessed a major political transition on Monday as the United Democratic Front (UDF) returned to power after a decade, with VD Satheesan taking oath as the new Chief Minister at a ceremony held at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram at 10 am. The swearing-in marked a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, drawing senior leaders and chief ministers from across the country.
Congress MP KC Venugopal arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram airport earlier in the day to receive dignitaries attending the ceremony. The event saw heightened political activity as the UDF leadership prepared to formally assume office following its electoral victory in Kerala.
Speaking briefly to ANI, Venugopal said, “Everything is alright,” as preparations continued at the venue. His remarks came amid celebrations within the party, which described the moment as the beginning of a new administrative phase in the state.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also arrived in Thiruvananthapuram to attend the oath-taking ceremony. Leaders said that several senior Congress figures, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, along with the Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Telangana, were expected to be present at the event.
Congress MP K Suresh said the party was celebrating its electoral victory in Kerala and confirmed the attendance of top leadership at the ceremony. He added that important decisions were likely to be taken following the first cabinet meeting after the swearing-in of the new government.
With the new administration set to begin its tenure, party leaders described the event as a key moment for the UDF in Kerala’s political cycle, signaling the start of governance priorities that will be outlined in the coming days.
