An Iranian lawmaker has warned the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of a “very heavy price” over what he alleged was cooperation with the United States during recent strikes on Iranian infrastructure. The remarks have added to rising tensions in the Gulf region following renewed military exchanges between Tehran and Washington.
Esmail Kowsari, a member of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, accused the UAE of supporting US actions against Iran and claimed that Abu Dhabi had aligned itself with Tehran’s adversaries. The allegations were reported by Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Fars News, although Kowsari did not provide evidence to support the claims.
“The UAE will pay the price,” Kowsari said while issuing the warning, according to reports. His comments come amid increased uncertainty in the region, with concerns growing over the security of energy facilities, shipping routes and other critical infrastructure across the Gulf.

The latest developments have intensified debate within Iran over how the country should respond to escalating tensions with the United States. While some political voices have called for stronger retaliation, others have urged diplomacy, warning that a prolonged confrontation could further damage Iran’s economy and increase pressure on ordinary citizens.
Iranian economist Mehdi Pazouki, speaking to the outlet Fararu, argued that reaching an agreement with Washington would be in Iran’s national interest. He said the economic consequences of continued confrontation could outweigh the potential benefits of refusing compromise.
Meanwhile, conservative groups in Iran have pushed for a tougher stance against the United States and its regional partners. Hardline publications have called for expanded military responses and suggested targeting wider US-linked security interests in the Gulf. The situation remains tense as regional governments monitor developments following recent US-Iran military exchanges and their possible impact on regional stability.
