The Indian Embassy in Thailand issued a travel advisory on Friday, urging Indian nationals to avoid seven provinces due to escalating violence along the Thailand-Cambodia border. The advisory, posted on X at 11:10 AM IST, follows deadly clashes that killed at least 14 people, mostly Thai civilians, and injured 46 others, as reported by Thailand’s Public Health Ministry.
The Embassy advised travelers to monitor updates from official Thai sources, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Newsroom, which listed attractions in Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat as unsafe for travel.
The unrest, sparked by a landmine blast on Wednesday injuring five Thai soldiers, escalated with Thai F-16 airstrikes and Cambodian rocket fire near Ta Muen Thom and Preah Vihear temples.
Both nations blame each other, with Cambodia alleging Thai aggression and Thailand citing Cambodian attacks on civilians. The U.N. Security Council will address the crisis in a closed meeting today. Indian travelers are urged to stay vigilant and avoid border areas.
