Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Saturday inaugurated the Vadodara City Police’s new Command and Control Centre at the Police Bhavan, marking a major step in the city’s smart policing initiatives. The centre has been developed under the Gujarat Police’s Smart Policing programme through the Network for Technology Enabled Rapid Assurance and Monitoring (NETRAM) project.
Sanghavi was received at the Police Bhavan by Director General of Police K. L. N. Rao and City Police Commissioner Narsimha Komar. A contingent of city police presented a Guard of Honour upon his arrival, and the inauguration ceremony included the unveiling of a plaque to formally mark the opening of the facility.
During a briefing, City Police Commissioner Komar explained that the centre will enable real-time crime detection, coordination during major festivals and city events, and effective management of police resources. “Through this centre, we can monitor Vadodara’s security and traffic conditions continuously, enabling faster response to incidents and improved public safety,” he said.

Following the ceremony, Sanghavi toured the facility and observed the monitoring systems, including CCTV coverage of key city areas. He was briefed on how the centre’s technology assists both security management and traffic monitoring, allowing police to respond more efficiently to incidents.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the importance of leveraging modern technology to its full potential in policing. He suggested further integration of advanced systems into city security operations and wrote a note in the visit book presented to him by the City Police Commissioner.
The new Command and Control Centre represents a significant step toward modernising policing in Vadodara. By combining technology with law enforcement, the facility aims to enhance crime prevention, improve traffic management, and provide a central hub for monitoring and coordination, reflecting the Gujarat Police’s broader vision for smart urban safety and operational efficiency.
