The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Sahin, a resident of Darjeeling, and 24-year-old Prakash from Nepal. Both were reportedly present inside the establishment when the fire erupted and suffered fatal injuries before they could be evacuated. Their bodies were later recovered following firefighting operations and shifted for further formalities.
Those injured in the incident include customers Sonu, Ramesh, Mahadev Prasad, Prajwal, and Avinash, along with the pub owner, Pritam Pumeet. Fire and emergency services responded to the scene after being alerted, deploying firefighting units to bring the blaze under control. Police personnel also reached the spot to assist in evacuation efforts and to secure the area. Initial reports suggest that the fire spread rapidly within the premises, though the exact trigger has not yet been confirmed.
Authorities are currently examining possible causes, including electrical faults and safety compliance issues, as part of the ongoing investigation. Forensic and fire safety teams are expected to conduct detailed inspections of the site to determine how the incident unfolded and whether any violations contributed to the tragedy.
