Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir on Saturday asserted that the country will not allow terrorists operating from Afghanistan to undermine its peace and security. His remarks came during a visit to the border district of Kurram, where he spent the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr with troops and officers deployed in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army, Munir offered Eid prayers with soldiers and later interacted with them, commending their operational achievements in maintaining stability along the sensitive border. The visit was aimed at boosting troop morale and reaffirming the military’s commitment to safeguarding national security amid ongoing regional challenges.
During his address, Munir praised the success of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, a military initiative focused on dismantling terrorist networks and restoring long-term peace in border areas. The army chief emphasized that militant groups using safe havens across the border in Afghanistan would not be permitted to carry out activities against Pakistan. He reiterated that any attempt to destabilize the country would be met with firm action, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s broader stance, Munir called for Afghan territory not to be used by hostile elements targeting neighboring countries. His remarks reflect Islamabad’s continued concerns over cross-border militancy and its impact on regional stability, particularly in areas adjoining Afghanistan.
The statement comes amid heightened security focus in Pakistan’s border regions, where authorities have intensified operations to curb militant activity. Munir’s visit and message underline the military’s resolve to ensure peace while maintaining readiness against evolving security threats.
