A 26-year-old MBA graduate from Andhra Pradesh has died in a tragic house fire in Croydon, London, leaving his family and hometown in shock. The victim, G Abhishek, was a native of the Kondayyapeta area in Peddapuram town of Kakinada district. He had moved to London in 2023 to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and had decided to continue staying in the United Kingdom for better career prospects after completing his studies. Family members said he was ambitious and had been working towards establishing himself professionally abroad.
The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Monday when a fire broke out at a two-storey residential building on Duppas Hill Terrace in Croydon. According to initial reports, the flames spread rapidly across both the ground and first floors of the property before emergency services arrived at the scene. Firefighters rushed to control the blaze, but by the time the situation was brought under control, significant damage had already been caused.
Abhishek was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. Authorities believe he may have succumbed to suffocation due to heavy smoke inside the house, though the exact cause of death will be determined after further examination. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the origin and cause of the fire.

Two other individuals were also present in the house at the time of the incident. One man sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately taken to hospital for advanced medical care. Another occupant managed to escape the burning building but was hospitalised after suffering from smoke inhalation. Their current condition has not been officially detailed.
Back home in Andhra Pradesh, the news has devastated Abhishek’s family. His father serves as a community health officer and is associated with the Andhra Pradesh Government Employees' Association. Relatives and local residents in Peddapuram have expressed grief over the untimely death of the young student, describing it as a huge loss for the family.
The UK Consulate in London has informed the family about the tragedy and is extending assistance with the necessary legal and procedural formalities. Efforts are underway to complete documentation and arrange for the repatriation of Abhishek’s mortal remains to his native village in Kakinada district.
