Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched Gujarat’s ‘Dial 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)’ in Gandhinagar, heralding a new era of integrated, tech-driven policing. The system consolidates multiple emergency numbers—100 (police), 108 (ambulance), 101 (fire), 181 (women’s helpline), 1058 (child helpline), and 1070/1077 (disaster)—into a single, user-friendly number to streamline access to critical services.
Shah described the initiative as a cornerstone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for robust internal security. “Dial 112 eliminates confusion from multiple toll-free numbers, ensuring rapid response through a state-of-the-art control room in Ahmedabad,” he said. The 24/7 State Emergency Response Center, equipped with a 150-seat call center and GPS-enabled Jan Rakshak vehicles, tracks callers’ locations to dispatch the nearest help, whether for police, medical, or disaster aid.
The launch also included Rs 217 crore worth of police housing projects and modernized Jan Rakshak vans outfitted with alert bars, public address systems, and location trackers. Shah emphasized that Gujarat, under Modi’s earlier leadership as chief minister, transformed from a vulnerable border state into an “impenetrable fortress” through enhanced security measures, a legacy continued by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

Shah highlighted India’s strides in national security over the past 11 years under Modi, citing a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. He referenced decisive responses to attacks in Uri, Pulwama, and Pahalgam, including operations like Sindoor and Mahadev, which targeted terrorists and their planners. “India has shown the world it will go to any length to protect its citizens,” Shah asserted.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism by March 31, 2026, noting significant progress in reducing violence in the North East, Kashmir, and Naxal-affected regions. “Over 10,000 insurgents have surrendered in the North East, and the dream of a Naxal Red Corridor is nearly extinct,” Shah said.
Shah praised Gujarat’s transformation from a state plagued by communal riots during Congress rule to a national leader in law and order. He credited Modi’s governance for strengthening border security in Kutch and Banaskantha, curbing terrorism, narcotics, and cybercrime, and establishing Gujarat as a model of effective governance.
