A 19-year-old youth, Vivek, was fatally stabbed, and his 21-year-old friend, Aman, was seriously injured in a violent attack by four armed assailants in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar early Saturday, police reported. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. near J Block, Khirki Extension, also involved a robbery in the same locality, escalating concerns about rising street crime in the area.
Vivek, a restaurant worker from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was declared dead at Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, while Aman, also a local restaurant employee, is receiving treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre for multiple stab wounds. Both are residents of Khirki Extension, with Vivek’s father employed as a security guard and Aman’s mother a homemaker. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said a PCR call alerted authorities to the stabbing, followed by a second call at 2:53 a.m. reporting four youths, armed with knives and blood-stained hands, robbing near JD Block.
CCTV footage confirmed the assailants attacked Vivek and Aman with knives before fleeing. Police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 103 (murder), Section 109 (attempt to murder), and other provisions, with a separate case under Section 317 (armed robbery) at Malviya Nagar police station. Raids are underway, and additional CCTV footage is being analyzed to track the suspects, whose identities remain unknown.
