A wanted criminal, Aman, from Jainpur Jatan village, was arrested following a dramatic gunfight near Sonti village on the Ladwa-Pipli Road in Kurukshetra, Haryana, on Saturday, police confirmed. The suspect, who carried a Rs 50,000 reward for his capture, sustained leg injuries during the confrontation and was promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol from the scene, further implicating him in criminal activities.
The operation began when Kurukshetra police received credible information about a man riding a motorcycle without a number plate, suspected of carrying an illegal weapon. A police team, led by Inspector Surender Kumar, quickly mobilised and located the suspect. When confronted and asked to surrender, Aman allegedly fired two rounds at the officers, prompting the team to retaliate with gunfire, injuring him in the legs. The swift response ensured no officers were harmed during the encounter.
Inspector Kumar revealed that Aman was wanted in connection to a prior shooting at a jewellery store in Yamunanagar, highlighting his involvement in serious criminal activities. The arrest is a significant step in addressing crime in the region, with police continuing to investigate Aman’s potential links to other cases. The recovery of the illegal firearm underscores the ongoing challenge of curbing unauthorised weapons in Haryana.
