A shocking assault unfolded in Thane’s Wagle Estate on Wednesday when a 41-year-old Mumbai hotelier and others were allegedly attacked by a group of around 20 assailants, police reported. The incident occurred at an office where the hotelier had gone to discuss property-related business matters, only to face a violent mob that stormed the premises.
According to an official from Shreenagar police station, the attackers punched and kicked the hotelier and others present, including a builder and the office owner, while also vandalizing the office. Based on the hotelier’s complaint, an FIR has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for unlawful assembly, rioting, causing hurt, trespass, and criminal intimidation. One accused, reportedly a politically influential figure in real estate, has been named in the case.
No arrests have been made yet, but the police are actively investigating, reviewing CCTV footage from the office and surrounding areas, and recording witness statements to piece together the events. The incident has raised concerns about escalating violence in business disputes, with authorities working to identify and apprehend the culprits.
