A 24-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit and wrists slashed on the rooftop of her home in Kolhuwa village, Paschim Sharira, Kaushambi district, police reported Monday. The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Identified as Jyoti, daughter of Shambhu, the victim was sleeping in a rooftop room while her parents slept elsewhere in the house.

When Jyoti did not wake up at her usual time, family members discovered her blood-soaked body, according to Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Srivastava. Locals suggest suspicions of rape due to her semi-dressed state, though police have not confirmed this.

A murder case has been registered against unknown persons, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Police are investigating to uncover the motive and identify the perpetrator.
