A chilling incident rocked Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district today when Yogesh Rohila, a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, allegedly shot his wife and three children with a licensed pistol in their home in Sagatheda village, under the Gangoh police station area.
The savage attack, reported at around 3 PM IST, claimed the lives of two of his children, while his wife and the third child are battling for survival in critical condition.
According to police sources, the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. Rohila’s 11-year-old daughter, Shraddha, and one of his sons succumbed to gunshot wounds at the scene. His wife and the surviving child were rushed to a Community Health Centre (CHC), where they remain in grave condition.
The brutality of the act has left the community in shock, with neighbors describing a chaotic scene as emergency services descended on the quiet village.
Rohila, identified as a member of the BJP’s district executive, was swiftly arrested by the Saharanpur police, who have seized the weapon and launched an investigation. Senior officials, including the SP (Rural) and a forensic team, are at the site, gathering evidence to piece together the motive behind this family tragedy.
Preliminary reports suggest long-standing tensions within the household may have triggered the outburst.
The incident has sparked outrage and sorrow, casting a grim shadow over Saharanpur as authorities probe deeper into this devastating act of violence.
