A horrifying hit-and-run incident in Jammu’s Green Belt Park left a scooterist critically injured after a Mahindra Thar driver deliberately struck him twice on Monday at 2:18 pm. CCTV footage revealed the Thar, speeding to overtake another SUV on a single-lane road, veered onto the wrong side and collided with an oncoming scooter, causing the rider to fall.
Instead of stopping, the driver reversed the Thar just three seconds later, intentionally hitting the rider again as he struggled to stand, leaving him severely injured on his back. The driver then exited the vehicle, pointed at the victim lying on the road, and fled without offering aid.
Passersby rushed to assist the unconscious victim, transporting him to GMC Jammu, where he remains under treatment. Jammu police have seized the Jammu and Kashmir-registered Thar and detained its owner. A manhunt is underway for the driver, who is absconding. A case has been registered under relevant penal code sections, with authorities vowing to bring the culprit to justice.
