In a disturbing incident in Odisha’s Puri district, a woman schoolteacher was brutally assaulted and paraded through the streets by her husband and his associates on the night of September 9, 2025, following allegations of an extramarital affair.

The woman, who had been living separately from her husband, a college lecturer, due to marital disputes, was residing in a rented house in the Neemapada area. Around 8 pm, her husband, suspecting infidelity, forcibly entered her residence with several accomplices and allegedly found her with a male colleague, also a teacher.

Viral social media videos captured the harrowing scene, showing the woman being dragged out, beaten, garlanded with slippers, and forced to walk through the streets while being verbally abused. Her companion was stripped to his underwear and subjected to similar public humiliation as onlookers recorded the ordeal. The pair was eventually compelled to walk toward the local police station, surrounded by a crowd.

The incident came to public attention when the videos spread widely online, prompting swift police intervention. Authorities arrested the husband and one associate on charges of outraging the woman’s modesty and unlawful assault. The police have launched a further investigation to examine the circumstances and ensure justice, as the incident has sparked widespread condemnation for its brutality and violation of dignity.
