Two car wash workers were injured in a shocking sword attack in Thane’s Wagle Estate on Tuesday, following a dispute over a parked vehicle. The assailants, identified as Akash Anand Bhalerao, 25, and Suraj Dutta Hajare, 30, were arrested on Wednesday, police confirmed.
The incident unfolded when the accused, allegedly linked to the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), approached a group at a car wash in Nehrunagar around 5:30 pm, demanding a vehicle be moved. When the group, including victims Ajay Deoras and Sachin Tastode, refused, Bhalerao and Hajare brandished swords and attacked. Deoras sustained injuries near his eye and arm, while Tastode suffered wounds to his head, arms, and legs. Both are stable and receiving treatment.
A viral video capturing the assailants chasing the group with swords has fueled public outrage. Eyewitnesses reported the duo’s intent to intimidate, threatening others nearby. Local shopkeepers alerted the police, leading to the swift arrest of the accused under charges including attempt to murder (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) and provisions of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
