In a disturbing incident in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly fired shots at the residence of local YouTuber Simran Sikand in the early hours of August 10, 2025. The attack occurred around 1 a.m. at Sikand’s home in Model Town, where the perpetrators targeted the main gate with an unidentified firearm before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Police recovered two used cartridges from the site, as confirmed by Sub-Inspector Gursahib Singh of Model Town Police Station. The incident is believed to be connected to a prior online altercation involving Sikand.
A few months ago, Sikand commented on a religious post on social media, sparking a heated argument with Mohammad Sehyad Bhatti, a Pakistani national residing in Canada, and Dalbir Singh, a Hoshiarpur resident. Following the dispute, Bhatti allegedly threatened Sikand with a grenade attack, prompting authorities to provide the YouTuber with police security.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Model Town Police Station. The police have launched a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects, who remain at large, while taking measures to ensure public safety in the area.
