A man was allegedly strangled to death by his wife’s lover after being taken to a bar in a shocking incident reported from the district, police said on Sunday. The Sargur Police have arrested the victim’s wife and her partner in connection with the murder, which is believed to have been driven by a personal dispute over an extramarital relationship.
The deceased has been identified as Javarappa, 34, a resident of Kurnegala village in Sargur taluk. Police named the accused as his wife, Amrutha, 26, and her alleged lover, Siddesh, 32. According to investigators, tensions had been brewing in the household after Javarappa reportedly objected to the relationship between the two accused, leading to frequent arguments.
Preliminary findings suggest that Siddesh lured Javarappa to a bar under the pretext of a casual meeting before allegedly attacking him. Police believe the victim was later strangled, and his body was dumped on a roadside on the outskirts of the village in an apparent attempt to mislead authorities and avoid immediate suspicion.

The crime came to light in the early hours of April 17, when locals discovered Javarappa’s body with visible injuries on his face. His brother subsequently filed a complaint with the police, prompting the registration of a murder case. In response, authorities formed two special investigation teams to trace those responsible and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the killing.
During the course of the investigation, inconsistencies in the statements of the victim’s wife reportedly raised suspicion. Further questioning and evidence collection led police to uncover the alleged conspiracy involving Amrutha and Siddesh. Both were taken into custody and later formally arrested on charges of murder.
Police officials said further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact sequence of events and gather forensic evidence to strengthen the case. Authorities are also examining call records and other material to determine whether the crime was premeditated. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the tragic consequences of unresolved domestic conflicts.
