In a major development in the 2024 Pune Porsche crash case, two police officers suspended for alleged negligence have been officially sacked from service. Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari, both attached to Yerawada police station, were dismissed following an internal inquiry that highlighted serious lapses in the investigation. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed the decision on Wednesday.
The incident in question occurred on May 19, 2024, when a Porsche allegedly driven by a 17-year-old in an inebriated condition fatally struck two techies riding a motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar during the early hours. The tragic accident had sparked widespread outrage, prompting scrutiny of the police handling of the case. The sacked officers had been suspended earlier for late reporting and dereliction of duty.
An internal investigation revealed multiple procedural lapses, including delays in registering the case and a significant lag in collecting blood samples from the teenage driver. Reports indicated that the blood was collected only at 11 am, several hours after the accident, raising questions about evidence tampering. Additionally, allegations emerged that the teen’s blood samples were replaced with those of his mother.

The juvenile involved in the crash has since been released from the observation home, while his mother is currently out on bail. Nine other accused, including the teen’s father, Sassoon Hospital doctors Ajay Tawre and Shreehari Halnor, a hospital staffer, two middlemen, and three others—Aditya Avinash Sood, Ashish Mittal, and Arun Kumar Singh—remain in jail in connection with alleged tampering of blood evidence.
The proposal to formally dismiss the two officers had been sent to the home department in March 2025. Officials stressed that the sacking reflects the authorities’ commitment to ensuring accountability and upholding procedural integrity in high-profile cases, especially those involving juveniles and fatalities.
The Porsche crash case continues to attract public attention as legal proceedings against the accused proceed. The dismissal of the two officers has been seen as a critical step toward reinforcing law enforcement accountability, ensuring that investigative lapses in tragic incidents do not go unchecked.
