A manhunt is underway for Shishir Kumar, son of Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, accused of abusing and threatening councillors during a chaotic Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) meeting on July 11, Bihar Police said. A case was filed at Gandhi Maidan Police Station based on a complaint by councillor Jeet Kumar, prompting a search for the absconding Shishir.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma told PTI, “A team is searching for Shishir, who will be arrested soon. He’s accused of assaulting councillors and interfering in government work.” Sharma noted Shishir’s history of legal troubles, including cases under the Arms Act and for intimidation over the past two years. The SSP added that Shishir is free to surrender to police or a court.
The controversy erupted when Shishir, allegedly accompanied by bouncers, disrupted the PMC’s ninth general body meeting. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar claimed Shishir intimidated councillors to influence proceedings. Opposition councillors protested his unauthorized presence, leading to a physical altercation.
