A 59-year-old retired army officer was arrested by Mumbai Police on November 10, 2025, for allegedly raping and impregnating his minor neighbour, a case that came to light after the victim experienced severe abdominal pain. The girl, whose age has not been disclosed but confirmed as minor, was rushed to a hospital where doctors discovered she was two months pregnant. Traumatised and under pressure from her parents, she revealed the assaults, leading to an immediate complaint in the city's eastern suburbs on Saturday evening.
Police reports indicate the accused raped the girl twice—once in the first week of September and again in the first week of October—while threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the ordeal. The survivor, a neighbour of the retired officer, endured the abuse in silence until medical intervention exposed the crime. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The arrest was executed promptly after the FIR, with the accused taken into custody for interrogation. Investigators are examining digital and forensic evidence to strengthen the case, while the victim receives medical and psychological support. The incident has shocked the local community, highlighting vulnerabilities faced by minors in residential settings.
