Several incidents of alleged harassment involving women tourists were reported along Goa’s coastline over the past week, including one at Baga Beach where Russian female tourists were targeted. Authorities said timely intervention by beach marshals and lifesavers prevented the situation from escalating.
According to beach safety agency Drishti Marine, some domestic tourists allegedly harassed Russian women at Baga Beach last week. A beach marshal and a lifesaver stepped in promptly, after which the men were warned and allowed to leave.
In total, four harassment cases involving women tourists, three medical emergencies, and one lost-and-found case were recorded across Goa’s beaches during the week, the agency said in a release.

In another incident, two male tourists from Telangana, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, reportedly harassed a foreign woman near the shoreline after she declined to take a selfie with them. One of the men allegedly attempted to put his arm around her and kiss her. Both individuals were taken to a police station for further action.
At Colva Beach in South Goa, a group of seven to eight tourists from Karnataka were allegedly found filming and photographing Russian women without their consent. Lifesavers intervened and handed the group over to the Goa Police.
A similar incident was reported at Patnem Beach on Sunday evening, where five tourists from Bihar allegedly harassed and filmed a couple from Pune. Lifesavers escorted the couple to safety and alerted the police, who arrived within 15 minutes and detained the accused for further proceedings.
Officials said around 70 beach marshals are currently deployed across five popular beaches—Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Colva, and Benaulim—to ensure tourist safety and respond swiftly to such incidents.
