Tensions have escalated in Manipur after unidentified attackers targeted the residence of a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, resulting in the deaths of two children. The incident has triggered strong reactions from Meitei civil society groups, who have demanded swift action against those responsible.
According to initial reports, the attack took place late at night when armed individuals opened fire at the house of the BSF soldier, located in a conflict-affected area of the state. The sudden assault led to panic in the neighbourhood, with residents rushing to safety as gunfire erupted.
Two children, who were inside the residence at the time, were killed in the attack. Security forces later reached the site and launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to trace the assailants. Officials have not yet confirmed the identity or motive of those behind the violence.
