In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam's Cachar district police seized 20,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 6 crore and arrested two individuals on Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced.
Acting on credible intelligence, Silchar police intercepted a vehicle from a neighboring state, uncovering the illegal stash of Yaba, a potent mix of methamphetamine and caffeine, banned under the Controlled Substances Act. "Our relentless fight against drugs continues," Sarma posted on X, confirming that legal proceedings against the suspects are underway.
The operation marks a significant blow to narcotics smuggling in the region.
