Mangaluru City Police have moved a local court to secure custody of Roshan Saldanha, the prime accused in a multi-crore investment fraud case, officials announced Tuesday. Saldanha, a Bajal resident currently in judicial custody, allegedly swindled crores from investors across Dakshina Kannada and beyond through deceptive schemes promising high returns.
Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy revealed that one victim alone lost Rs 10 crore. The scam involved forged documents, shell companies, and sophisticated financial tactics to mislead investors. Authorities aim to interrogate Saldanha to trace the money trail, identify accomplices, and uncover additional victims.
Investigators suspect Saldanha used multiple channels to appear legitimate, gaining the trust of unsuspecting individuals. The high-profile case has sparked widespread concern due to its scale and impact on families. Police are urging anyone with information or complaints to come forward as the investigation intensifies, with more details expected post-custodial interrogation.
