In a dramatic operation at Karipur International Airport, authorities apprehended four individuals, including a 25-year-old woman named Surya from Pathanamthitta, for smuggling nearly one kilogram of MDMA, a potent illegal narcotic. The bust occurred late Sunday night following a tip-off, with police intercepting the group outside the airport.
Surya, who had just arrived from Oman, concealed the drugs ingeniously within food packets in her luggage. Three local men—Ali Akbar (30), Muhammad Rafi (28), and Shafeer (32)—who were at the airport to meet her, were also detained. Authorities suspect the quartet is linked to a broader drug trafficking syndicate.
An intensive investigation is underway to uncover potential connections to a larger network, as police work to dismantle the smuggling operation.
