A major controversy has erupted at Lucknow University after an assistant professor was arrested over allegations of harassment and claims linked to leaked examination papers. The case came to light after alleged audio recordings surfaced online in which the professor was heard repeatedly pressuring a woman student to meet him before her exams. The incident has sparked outrage among students and raised serious concerns about the misuse of authority within educational institutions. Police have now launched an investigation into both the alleged harassment and the possible examination paper leak angle.
According to the complaint, assistant professor Paramjit Singh allegedly made repeated phone calls to the student and used inappropriate language while trying to convince her to meet him privately. In one of the recordings that surfaced online, he could allegedly be heard telling the student, “Darling, I have retrieved two papers for you,” while insisting that she come and meet him before the examinations. The student reportedly replied that she had already studied the syllabus and did not require leaked papers, but the professor allegedly continued to pressure her and repeatedly asked her to visit him within a week before the exams began.
The recordings quickly went viral on social media and triggered anger among students as well as the general public. Many people questioned how a university professor could allegedly use leaked examination papers as a tool to manipulate or influence a student. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the professor actually had access to confidential examination papers or whether the claims were made only to pressure the student into meeting him. Authorities are also examining whether any larger network connected to examination malpractice could be involved in the matter.

Police later arrested the professor after the complaint was formally filed and the audio clips became part of the investigation. Officials are reportedly analyzing call records, voice samples, and other digital evidence to verify the allegations. The incident has once again brought attention to the growing issue of examination-related misconduct in the country, especially at a time when national agencies are already investigating several high-profile paper leak cases, including the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak controversy.
The case has also raised broader concerns regarding student safety and accountability within universities. Students and activists have demanded strict action against anyone found guilty and called for stronger mechanisms to protect students from harassment by faculty members. Meanwhile, Lucknow University authorities have not yet released a detailed statement regarding the allegations, but officials are expected to cooperate fully with the police investigation as the case continues to develop.
