Kolkata Police have arrested three individuals in possession of illegal firearms following a violent rampage in Anandapur's Gulshan Colony on Thursday evening. The incident involved a group of miscreants who vandalised motorcycles and shops while openly displaying guns and sharp weapons, escalating tensions in the area. Locals reported hearing several rounds fired into the air, prompting a swift police response.
The arrests were made based on credible intelligence and CCTV footage recovered from the scene, which captured the chaos. Police shared images of the suspects and seized weapons on the social media platform X to aid public awareness and potential further leads. The operation targeted areas under the Entally and Narkeldanga police stations, reflecting coordinated efforts by the Detective Department to curb the unrest.
In the first raid, two suspects were apprehended in the Entally area, from whom authorities recovered a country-made firearm and two live cartridges. Separately, another individual was detained in Narkeldanga with an improvised 7 mm pistol and two additional cartridges. These seizures highlight ongoing concerns over illegal arms proliferation in urban neighbourhoods.
