A 14-year-old girl from Kerala, Sri Nanda, went missing during a family hike in Karnataka’s Chandradrona hills. She was accompanied by around 40 relatives on April 7 when darkness fell. Initial search efforts by family members were unsuccessful, prompting them to file a police complaint. The girl has not yet been traced, raising concerns about her safety. Authorities are treating the case as urgent.
The complaint was registered on April 8 by her family member, Shashikumar K G, a resident of Kadampazhippuram village in Kerala’s Palakkad district. Police immediately launched a search operation in the steep and dense ghat areas of the hills. Ropes are being used to access difficult sections while drones assist in surveying the terrain. Rescue teams are working around the clock in coordination with local authorities. The challenging terrain has slowed the search process.
Search teams are also scanning nearby forests, trails, and rocky patches for any signs of the girl. Volunteers and locals have joined the effort to expand the search perimeter. Authorities have asked people in the surrounding villages to report any sightings. Continuous monitoring of the area is being carried out to avoid missing any clues. The family remains anxious and hopeful for her safe return.

Officials are considering deploying additional aerial support if needed, including helicopters. Nighttime search operations are being conducted with proper safety measures. Coordination between Karnataka and Kerala police ensures that cross-state communication is seamless. Local residents have been advised to assist without hampering official operations. Authorities emphasise that public vigilance can help in tracing the girl quickly.
The police have appealed to anyone with information to come forward immediately. Social media platforms are being used to circulate her photographs and details. The family hopes for a safe reunion and urges calm among concerned citizens. Sri Nanda’s disappearance highlights the risks of trekking in dense hill terrain. Authorities continue to lead extensive search efforts until she is found.
