A distressing video from Sri Guru Tippeswamy Temple’s residential Veda school in Karnataka has ignited widespread outrage after it captured a Sanskrit teacher, Veeresh Hiremath, violently attacking a student for using a mobile phone. The footage, which surfaced on October 21, 2025, shows Hiremath confronting the boy, pinning him to the ground, and repeatedly kicking and thrashing him, even as the student, reportedly injured in the hand, pleaded for mercy. The incident, allegedly triggered by the student calling his parents, has drawn sharp condemnation for its brutality and raised concerns about discipline practices in educational institutions.

The video’s rapid spread on social media prompted immediate action from local authorities. Gangadhar, the temple’s executive officer, filed a complaint with the Nayakanahatti Police, who registered a case against Hiremath under relevant sections for assault. However, the accused teacher reportedly fled after the case was lodged, leading police to launch a manhunt to apprehend him. A tehsildar visited the school to assess the situation, while enraged parents staged protests outside, demanding swift justice and accountability for the violent act against the young student.

Karnataka’s Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Laxmi Hebbalkar, responded decisively, condemning the incident as “deeply disturbing” and vowing strict action. In a statement, she declared, “No one should ever be treated in such a manner, especially not children. I will personally look into this case and ensure that strict action is taken against the person found guilty.” Hebbalkar also directed her department to submit a detailed report promptly, signaling a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault and the school’s oversight.
