A shocking crime has rocked Bareilly as Dr Naeem Ali, a physician at Universe Hospital, was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly molesting a minor Dalit girl who was admitted to the ICU. The incident occurred on July 11, when the girl was undergoing treatment alone—her brother later filed a police complaint claiming “obscene advances and molestation” while she was in a vulnerable state.

Ali fled immediately after the FIR was lodged, prompting authorities to form a special team. Acting on a tip-off, the doctor was finally tracked down in the Delapeer locality and taken into custody. During questioning, he reportedly confessed, stating he acted because the patient was alone in the ICU.

He has now been charged under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The magistrate remanded him to judicial custody following a formal hearing.
